SOWULO is ‘Motion and Energy.’

Sowulo is the eighth and final rune of the second Aett. It is a rune of education and understanding.

Sowulo represents the power of the Sun. In almost every religion in the world, the Sun is held most sacred.

To the Norse, the sun was known as ‘Sunna’ or ‘Sol’ and was considered feminine. The sun’s light and warmth symbolises life, nurturing, growth and all that is good.

According to Norse cosmology, the sun is driven around the heavens in a chariot chased by a great wolf, which intends to devour it when it reaches Ragnarok. The sun is associated with the horse, as Norse mythology dictates that the sun is carted through the sky by a horse and chariot. Sowulo then, is also associated with the horse. In Norse mythology, this chariot is driven by a girl. Some mythologists suggest that the girl is actually the goddess Freya and her sun-chariot is pulled by two large black cats.

As a representation of power, nothing compares to the Sun in this world. With the Sowulo rune, it represents success and glory. The Sun is very much an active symbol. The Sowulo rune encourages one to take positive action and move forward along their path, taking a brief pause to bask in the sunshine, warmth and healing rays of the sun along the way.

The Sowulo rune represents someone or something that is a ‘guiding light’ for others, Sowulo can also be viewed as a ‘road map.’ It lights the way.

This rune also symbolises the consciousness of the inner self and may indicate growth in various ways and on many levels. It provides enlightenment and success through individual will. It is a rune of education and understanding and is a transformative rune.

When drawing Sowulo in a reading it is telling you that you have the power to bring all good things to fruition. Good fortune awaits you and you may feel a positive vibe around you at the moment. The power of the Sun will enable you to face dark parts within yourself, without fear.

Sowulo is indicating that the work and effort you have put into projects and situations will be blessed. For example, the seeds you have sown are now being touched by the sun, and are ready to sprout forth.

Sowulo is the rune of potential and success, energy and expansion. It presages a union between the conscious and the unconscious.

Sowulo is an extremely powerful rune when used bound with others, in conjunction with others and as bindrunes.

Roses smiling in the sun
The river gently flows
Sing with beauty and with joy
As love shines out and glows

Angel Days on the Arkangel boat, Taggs Island, Nr Hampton Court

This is the second of these monthly events that I've attended and didn't want the day to pass by without writing a review and saying a huge thank you to the organisers Brian Mills and Sally Francis for once again making the day so memorable.

Brian's houseboat the Arkangel is the perfect venue for these most beautiful angel day events. Set on the idyllic Taggs Island near hampton court, the atmosphere is filled with a magical beauty of its own.

From angel card readings to guided meditations and the beautiful rose petal ceremony where Brian calls in Archangel Michael, rose petals are given out to everyone and blessed and thrown overboard, each ceremony is filled with amazing angel energy. There is always a guided tour of the island too and with boats named Cloud nine and arkangel you get an idea of the totally serene quality the whole of the island has. Whoever attends the group is immediately welcomed and you instantly feel the connectedness of kindred spirits gathering to share in love and life experience.

The events usually take place once a month and at the small charge of £15 its a must for anyone seeking total peace and tranquility in the company of friends.

Contact either Brian Mills or Sally Francis on facebook for details on the next Angel Day at Taggs Island.

Many thanks to both for another absolutely stunning day.

On the Deck of the Arkangel

As a group we were totally blessed by the appearance of two white swans and their adorable cygnets.

Angel Day - Taggs Island, Brians garden

The garden is a wonderland, surrounded by the river and trees, you never know what you might find. Creeping past the little cherub asleep in the sunshine, couldn't resist stopping for a little chat with the fairies.

Sunset on the Arkangel, Angel Day, Taggs Island

As the sun set on Angel Day at Taggs Island the sky came alive with colour. In total gratitude to Brian and to Sally and to the angels for the blessing of another day of beautiful magic shared with such wonderful friends.

Thanksgiving
We return thanks to our mother, the earth,
which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and streams,
which supply us with water.
We return thanks to all herbs,
which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases.
We return thanks to the moon and stars,
which have given to us their light when the sun was gone.
We return thanks to the sun,
that has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye.
Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit,
in Whom is embodied all goodness,
and Who directs all things for the good of Her children.

How many times have you stumbled upon a rock that looks like a friendly giant or a stone that has a face? Ever wondered what message its trying to give you?

The following is an excerpt taken from Jamie Sams Sacred Path Cards

“Nothing is ever put in our paths without a reason. When we are attracted to a certan rock and pick that stone person up, it has a lesson for us. The language of the stones is a personal discovery with many messages for each individual. Since we are unique in our tastes, different stone people will attract us. Each stone person can be a protecting or guiding force in life. The Sioux call them Wo-Ties and the Seneca call them teaching stones. Every lesson on how to live in harmony with the earth can be learned through the Stone people. The fact that each rock is a part of the body of our Mother Earth speaks for itself. When we seek to slow down our minds and feel the earthing influence that brings balance and serenity a stone person is our tool. The earthing influence is a way of anchoring the body to Mother Earth and feeling the security of her nurturing influence. The impressions of every act of Creation from the moment our planet cooled until the present are contained in the bodies of the stone people. This great font of wisdom is ours as a gift if we are willing to connect with the Stone teachers. The calming effect we receive is the wisdom of these Rock Elders who were our first historians for All our Relations. Their mission is to be of service to the two leggeds. Now it is up to us to seek and accept their gifts.”

Animal Totems

There are more and more books around these days on the subject of animal totems. A personal favourite is Ted Andrews Animal Speak book which is packed to the brim with really good observations and information on totems. Always good nonetheless to see how each personal totem shows up for you.

Some general information on heron totems:

Heron has a strong connection to the element of Earth
and you must also be aware and cultivate this connection.
The Mother Earth is a source of strength
and will help you stand strong and firm.

Heron medicine allows you to perform many tasks at the same time,
keeping all in balance.
If one way doesn't work, then another way will.
Heron people seem to instinctively know this.

Heron people do not need a lot of people in their life
and they are often follow non-traditional roles.
They feel no need to "keep up with the Jones."
They stand out in their uniqueness.

You know what is best for you and you should follow that path.

Meditation on color will provide insight to Heron people.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

My journey with heron started many years ago during a healing session with a client. After many weeks of no seeming improvement suddenly herons began appearing everywhere. With every heron sighting the lady I was working with became stronger and soon went on to make a full recovery. Since that session, heron has always called, signalling times of positivity. They are good teachers on stillness. Always a blessing.

See how heron shows up in your life and take time in stillness to connect.

To spend time in stillness with heron is a blessing.

Letting go.

With right intent, positively focused, don't meddle with external reality, Be love, come from a place of love and trust, align your spirit with your purpose, trust in your own heart and let go into the mystery.

Don't give up, just let go.
BUTTERFLY
The butterfly symbolizes intuitive transformation and consciousness. It teaches us to make changes to our lives, create new conditions, and make dreams come true. Every new idea and every step towards enlightenment reflects the development of the butterfly. The egg of a butterfly signals the birth of a life or new idea. The larvae stage represents lifes' learning and experiences. The cocoon represents the breaking free of misconceptions and beliefs for expansion. Finally, the hatching of the butterfly symbolizes the beginning of consciousness and new reality. The Butterfly reminds you that you are continually in a state of transformation and all is well.

Totems 5/5/2011

One of the messages received today with new energy starting to filter through is to use intuition and inner guidance. We are being given the opportunity to fine tune these abilities.

Asking Mother Nature for signs this morning a beautiful beetle landed and this was the message from a link found about beetle.

Beetle - 4 point totem of peace

Beetle is a being of peace wishing no more than to live at one with nature and the world. The gifts granted are the gifts of negotiation and expression so that its followers may preach peace. Beetle followers must never kill and may only fight in self defense.

Card for Today 4/5/11 Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Cards - Colette Baron Reid

The Mystery

This marker directs you into the unknowable mystery of your journey. It is the sacred place where all things are created but not yet formed. It points the way to potential which meets the magic of intention. It tells you the magical unknowable forces of destiny and fate are working in your life. The forces you can never fully understand or control are weaving their magic around you to help you fulfill your true purpose.

There is a warning to be humble here. The Mystery reveals itself only when it chooses and not when or how you demand. The cosmic laws operate outside of time and space outside of human intellect or influence. Only hindsight will reveal their patterns. Only total trust and deepest faith can be your allies when the Mystery appears as a Sacred Journey marker on your path.

Sometimes it may feel as if you are going backwards, but truly if you look at a spiral it goes up and back around, reaching upward although it may seem for a time you are not. You are indeed progressing, trust the Mystery and Keep Going!!

For now, trust the thread of your life is woven into the pattern of the Mystery with beauty, grace, strength and purpose. This marker is an auspicious and profound omen that shows you you are on the correct path.
