Ansuz is the rune of the poet, the saga, the syr, and the speechmaker. Because the storytellers of old would travel from camp to camp and tribe to tribe the symbol of this carried word is the windblown cloak of these message bearers.

This rune represents the ecstasy of inspiriation, this is the stuff of which all oracles are made, regardless of path, tradition, or belief.

Phonetically, the rune of inspired speech and incantation or song is a creative expression and it is linked with the magic of speech which passes knowledge along with the breath of life. Magically this rune inspires speech, writing, song and poetry or can invoke inspiration and understanding. This is a rune of teaching and learning and can be used to invoke those things which foster teaching, learning, and the sharing of knowledge.

A guided visualisation by Wildwitchyju - Eagles and Angels

(picture:- www.calltheangels.com)

Visualise if you can, a familiar little country path. Its a warm day, the sun is shining, breathe in the clean pure air, smiling, joyous and radiant, beaming with the joy of being alive, every cell in your body ringing with delight.

You see before you a gate, beyond which lies a familiar meadow. Open the gate and allow yourself a moment to take in the beauty of the sparkling dew shining in the green grass and the wildflowers that dazzle in the sun like a million stars.

There's a little wooden bridge that crosses over a stream, cross the bridge and stop for a moment to stare in the wonder at the dragonflies that flutter past like fairies sprinkling their magic in a colorful dance in front of your eyes.

Beyond the bridge is a viewpoint and you make your way to it with a spring in your step and a song in your heart.

Sit in the warmth and enjoy the clear azure blue sky for a moment, just be and feel the connectedness with everything, be still, breathe.

In the distance you see a speck in the sky, as it gets nearer and nearer you see that it takes the form of a huge eagle and it lands gently on the grass nearby and squawks at you to mount his back as he wants to take you on a ride.

Be at one with this mighty eagle that soars effortlessly through the sky, feel his strength and the power in his wings and see the world as if through his eyes as he flies you to a very sacred mountain.

You land gently, effortlessly. The sun is just rising here on top of this mountain and you notice a fluffy blanket to pull around your shoulders as you watch the red ruby golden sun rise like a huge gem in the sky. As the sun rises, glance around you at the mountains in the distance, all resembling sleeping smiling giants. Sit for a while and absorb the absolute magic of this place. You remember being here before and it feels both familar and sacred.

As the sun begins its ascent you notice before you a huge mass of twinkling rainbow lights, all starting to form a shape. As the shape starts to materialise you realise you are now looking at a blue golden angel who comes with love and strength.

In his hands he hold out 3 gifts for you and beckons you to graciously receive them.
He also has a few messages for you. Receive the gifts with thanks and listen to the messages he has for you. Feel this beautiful loving energy as his light shimmers around you, feel the gentleness and strength of his feathered wings and notice a change in your own energy field.. feel the strength and healing love of his light. Sit for a while and be with this angel, feel the beauty of this presence lighting you up and feel yourself radiating with this loving healing light.

Rest a while, and bathe in the loving healing light.

When you are ready, thank the angel and send a beam of healing light around the planet touching everyone as is passes.

The eagle approaches.. mount his back as he takes you back to the gate, thank him for his strength and wave as he flaps his wings and takes off once more into the azure blue sky.

Open the gate and find yourself back in the country lane again.. start to come back now and have a little wiggle and a stretch, stretch yourself and become aware of your surroundings. Keep in your awareness the gifts that were given.

Thank you for your presence here.

You are very loved and surrounded by beautiful angels.

MANNAZ is ‘Humanity.’

The fourth rune of the third Aett and twentieth in total is Mannaz. This is the ‘Rune of Mankind’ – the Human. We are all genetically linked to the gods and the universe. This rune represents the human as a whole, incorporating the intelligence, memory, rationality, common sense, traditions and cultures of the human race. It represents our ‘humanity’.

The Mannaz rune exposes and expressed both the strengths and weaknesses of the human being. It is the essence of what the Norse and ancient peoples of all cultures, as well as many of us today, look to pass down and teach our children: to be smart, to remember your ancestors, to act fairly and to honour the gods. Mannaz is a part of the soul of the human race that connects all and says ‘we are one.’

According to Norse Cosmology, the realm of the human race is Midgard. Mannaz represents all of humanity who dwell on the Earthly plane.

Mannaz is the rune of relationships and connections. It is about those with whom with have intimate relationships, such as our immediate circle of family and friends, to the wider community. It also extends to our connection with nature and our instincts to be social creatures. Mannaz represents our connection with the Universe and nature.

The Mannaz rune represents interdependence and support, as well as duty and responsibility. No individual is independent of others and each plays a part in the larger pattern of life, interacting within other’s lives as well as living their own.

Mannaz in a reading may be an indication to either seek assistance from others, or look to those whom you can assist. Your willingness to assist others, whether or not you are in need of assistance yourself, indicates to all the calibre of who you are.

Interactions should run smoothly and amicably. Plans will go to order.

If a problem were to arise at this time, it will be dealt with quickly and positively, to the point where you may be baffled or mystified as to how the solution came about so promptly and effectively.

Mannaz talks of an attitude towards other people and their attitude in return is concerned with intelligence, forethought and creative skills and abilities.

Drawing Mannaz in a reading would suggest that issues with those close to you may be prevalent. Embrace all interactions and look for the deeper meaning in conversations and situations as they arise.

Be safe in the knowledge that everything that happens happens for a reason.

Mary Magdalene - Unconditional love (excerpt)

"Love yourself, others and every situation no matter what outward appearances
may be"

Message from Mary Magdalene

I choose to do my work from the higher levels of consciousness where love reigns
supreme, its here where the most good can be done and I urge you to do the same.
Where you dwell in consciousness is where you truly dwell so focus on the good in people.

Watching the beautiful sky from the nursery I had the feeling
all the trees were doing the same thing.

Do remember in this cold weather to regularly feed the birds.

The beauty of life is everywhere... how blessed to have moments like this that just bring tears of joy to your eyes. Spend time in nature, the earth mother will love you for it.

If you are experiencing Blackbird as your totem, this is what I've found from various websites and books.

BLACKBIRD. - excerpt
Understanding the energies of Mother Nature (Ted Andrews)

The blackbird has long been associated with omens and mysticsm. Its colour, alone has evoked both fear and promise. Although called a blackbird, only the males are black, females usually have a streaky brown plumage.

One variety has a yellow head and throat which stands out strongly agains the black plumage. Yellow and black has long been associates with the Archangel Auriel. Auriel is considered the tallest of the angels with eyes that can see across eternity. This being oversees all of nature and all of the nature spirits. Auriel has traditonally been associated with the summer.

They nest in swamps, marshes and low brush - usually just a few feet from water. Again this reflects a tie to water, an ancient symbol for the feminine force and for Nature.

If the blackbird has come into your life as a totem, you will open to new surprises and to a new understanding of the forces of Nature as they begin to migrate into your life.

PaganMystics

The Blackbird -excerpt

The blackbirds iridescent black plumage holds the energies of mysticism and magic. Druid legends say that the birds of Rhiannan are 3 blackbirds which sit and sing in the World tree of other worlds. Their singing puts the listener into a sleep or a trance which enables him or her to travel to the otherworld. It was said to impart mystic secrets. Those with this medicine often have a hypnotic influence on others as well as an uncanny ability to move between the seen and unseen worlds with clarity. They make excellent shamans and trance channelers.

Blackbirds are timid and prefer their own company over the company of others. In humans shyness is common. Vulnerable to outside influences those with this totem need to remember to clear accumulated influences from their energy field on a regular basis.

The male's distinctive song during breeding season is loud and melodious with flute like qualities. Males often sing from high perches and both sexes produce a variety of sounds which include mimicking other birds. Blackbird medicine people love to sing and have the ability use their voice to heal and inform. They are also good ventriloquists.

Blackbirds spend much of their time on the ground. Its locomotion includes walking, climbing and hopping forward and backwards. They forage for food in open spaces although cover is always near by. When foraging in leaf litter under trees they sound like people walking . In humans this suggests an ability to remain grounded in the earth energies while walking a spiritual path.

When resting the blackbird is frequently seen stretching, legs extended back, side wings in full extension, tail spread, and the head tilted to one side as if listening. Yoga and movement therapy are beneficial for those that hold this totem.

The blackbirds flights are low, short and undulating but fast and direct over open country. They move with determination and focus and can teach us how to do the same. When blackbird flies into your life your connection with nature and the forces of creation increase. The magic of the underworld surfaces in your life. Awareness is heightened and change on a cellular level begins. The blackbird teaches you how to acknowledge your power and use it to its fullest.

Weekly Rune Reading - Algiz

Algiz: (Z or -R: Elk, protection.)

Algiz illustrates both the antlers of the elk, and the shape of the sedge-grass herb. To some it suggests the spread fingers of a hand raised in a protective gesture. It is a powerful rune of protection and, spiritually, it symbolizes reaching up to the divine.

the primary meaning of Algiz means protection and spiritual connection with the gods and goddesses. Algiz assists in successful magick by channeling the energies of the gods to us in workings. Algiz can be written both upward and downward, having both male and female forms and symbolizing the branches and roots of the Tree of Yggdrasil. According to Freya Aswynn, in its normal upright form Algiz an be used in devotional work, such as when invoking other runes or expanding one's consciousness to higher realms. Aswynn also says that Algiz can be used for healing, and that this is one of the strongest runes to be used in circle because it shields and defends any working done within the circle.

In reading this rune stone stands for protection, a shield. The protective urge to shelter oneself or others. Defense, warding off of evil, shield, guardian. Connection with the gods, awakening, higher life. It can be used to channel energies appropriately. Follow your instincts.

12. Arrow - Truth as protection (excerpt)

Protect yourself by using the truth as protection. It does not matter what others think, you know the truth. When you honour that truth you cannot be hurt by the lies of others.

Arrow also speaks of the idea of Brotherhood. This is to say that you must armour yourself with good intent and thankfulness of those you wish to associate with. Drop those who would no longer honour your path or your truth. Remember the arrow is always straight and says 'stay on the sacred path'

4. Peyote Ceremony - New Abilities (excerpt)

"When the people's spirit was broken
When the buffalo no longer roamed
When all our lands were taken
We no longer had a home

The water birds reflection
Of the universe within
Showed us new abilities
And gave us hope again"

"The peyote ceremony is a sacred ritual that propels the spirit into the
crack in the universe where there is no time, no space, just the raw
energy of Creation coming from the Great Mystery. Once people see the
truth and touch eternity, there is no way to strip them of their dignity
or their knowing"

The reading

If the Water Bird has flown your way and brought you the Peyote Ceremony you are asked to recognise your immortal spirit. Look into the crack in the universe for new ways to develop and the abilities that can enhance your growth. Remove any denial that keeps you from developing new skills and use the talents you have to the fullest.

The peyote ceremony puts you on notice that opportunities to discover the Self and for expansive growth are now possible. You are never as limited as you believe you are. The true self is filled with potential. Conquering limitation created in the mind will allow you to discover these new abilities and know that all goals are possible.

The Faery Oracle - Brian Stroud, Jessica Macbeth

CARD NO. 23

THE GREEN WOMAN (excerpt)
Wildness, Natural Magic, Gratitude, Untrammeled Creativity

The green woman dances naked in the moonlight - and the sunlight - and the shadows as well. She doesn't care what you think of her, she knows her own worth from her experience of life. She is the feminine Vital vegetative force that enables a root to crack through stone a reed to bend in the wind and the oak to stand against the storm.

The graceful slow motion dance of the Green Woman shows us how to release the constraints of artificial rules and find our own pattern and growth. Each of us, rooted or not has an inborn pattern to guide our own growth.

Reading

The Green woman speaks to us of caring for our own growing ground and of the physical satisfaction of being our natural selves and practicing our own innate magic. This is a time for enhancing the growth of our talents and abilitites a time of blossoming that will bear fruit. It may also be a time of growing maturity and self confidence, trust yourself and the process.

She councils boldness and perseverence in the face of adversity and also reminds us that sometimes the action called for is to wait patiently and keep growing.

The sacred path cards 6/11/10

Card No. 30 FIRE MEDICINE

If fire medicine card has arrived in the cards, you are being asked to acknowledge the fire within. Your spontaneity for living depends upon your connection to fire. You can support your passion for living by acknowledging all the good medicine present. Your ability to create adventure and excitement comes from your willingness to give yourself pleasure and joy. All that is needed to continue the passion is to decide if you are worthy and proceed.

If you have any judgements about passion on the physical level its time to clear them. All acts of life are sacred when treated in a respectful manner.

In all cases Fire medicine insists we use the fire within to fuel our lives with energy. This energy comes with mother earths physicality and grandfather suns spontaneous love. When we are in balance this Divine union sparks our natural desire for experiencing life.

Sacred Path Cards -by Jamie Sams 31/10/10

18. WHIRLING RAINBOW - Unity, Wholeness achieved

To the Navaho and the Hopi, the whirling rainbow woman is the bringer of friendly rains that nurture the three sisters, corn, squash and beans - during the summer so that the people will be fed. Many times an image of the whirling rainbow is created in sand paintings, an ancient healing art performed by the medicine clans of those nations. The whirling rainbow woman comes from all four directions and curves like a swastika covering all directions. The outside of the sacred circle is protected by another whirling rainbow woman bending her body in the space below creating a cup shape to catch the rain and protect the circle. Without the rain, the three sisters will die and the people will not be fed.

The whirling rainbow is the promise of peace amongst all nations and all people. The rainbow race stresses equality and opposes the idea of a superior race that would control or conquer other races. The rainbow race brings peace through the understanding that all races are one. The unity of all colours, creeds working together for the good of the whole, is the idea that is embodied in the whirling rainbow woman. When all pathways to wholeness are respected by all cultures, the prophecy of the whirling rainbow will be completed.

When I lived in mexico and worked with the grandmothers, the dreamtime buffalo society or sisterhood had many prophecies derived from seers and dreamers that had come down through the ages. The prophecy of the whirling rainbow was very specific. when the time of the white buffalo approaches the third generation of the white eyes children will grow their hair and speak of love as the healer of the children of the earth. These children will seek out new ways of understanding themselves and others. They will wear feathers and beads and paint their faces. They will seek the elders of the red race and drink from their wisdom. These white eyed children will be a sign that the Ancestors are returning in white bodies, but they are red on the inside. They will learn to walk the Earth Mother in balance again and reform the ideas of the white chiefs. These children will be tested as they were when they were Red ancestors by unnatural substances like firewater to see if they can remain on the Sacred path.

The generation of Flower Children have moved through this part of the prophecy and some have remained on the Sacred path. Others were lost for a while and are now returnng to the natural way of being. some were disillusioned and have forgotten the high ideals that gave them life when their hearts were young, but others are still waking up and quickening to the remembering.

Grandmother Cisi would look at me with her obsidian eyes piercing my soul when she spoke of the Whirling rainbow prophecy, and I would feel my heart skip a beat and then fill with promise and love. She would tell me about the return of the Buffalo to Turtle Island and how the herds would once again be numerous. After the time when the Buffalo returned the generation following the Flower children would see the dawning of the Fifth World of peace. Grandmother Cisi called the beginning of this fifth world the wobbly pony that on being born would try to use its legs. She said that the wobble would be felt by the earth mother and changes would occur in the soil and waters. Inside the Children of Earth, the wobble would create rolling emotions and feelings would bring the quickening and the remembering. Colourful dreams would be brought to the sleeptime and dreamtime dreams of these newborn Warriors of the Rainbow and they would begin to learn how to Walk in Balance. The changes in our Earth Mother would create fear in ther children which would later lead to the understanding and unity of One-planet-One-people.

Grandmother Berta would giggle when we came to this part of the prophecy because my eyes would be round as saucers and i could not sit still. Granmother Berta would urge Grandmother Cisi to stop for the day and leave me hanging on the cliff edge just to tease me. Cisi would finally begin again and slap my knee to make me pay attention to the rhythm of the prophecy because my mind would be spinning with probabilities and my own projections. I wanted to ask so many questions about how, when, where and why. I wanted to know details details details. I was twenty two and very impatient but I kept my silence so she could continue.

The whirling rainbow will appear in the form of a Sun Dog for those who are ready to see. The Sun Dog is a full rainbow circle around the sun that has bight white lights at the four directions. The Sun dog is a rare natural phenomenon that was named by the Native Americans. The name is now used by scientists all over the world. Many sun dogs will be seen around the Time of the White Buffalo, which will be the Sky language sign that the Secret and Sacred teachings are to be shared with all races. Enough of the Children will be awakened to carry the responsibility of the teachings and the healing process will begin in full swing.

Grandmother Berta would smile with a faraway look in her eyes, knowing she would be in the blue road of spirit when the time of the white buffalo came. Grandmother Cisi would also be in the Other Side camp, but both promised they would be assisting me in bringing out the things they had taught me when the time was right.

Both Grandmothers spoke of the change in feelings the Children of the Earth would have during the wobble or healing proces as the Whirling Rainbows permeated their dreams. They said "Many will remember their purpose for being on this Earth walk and will learn to develop their gifts to assist the whole of humanity. Truth will shatter the bonds of seperation and goodness will prevail. Some details of Earth changes will come into the dreams of those who are being warned to move where they will be safe. Others will be told that their talents will be needed in areas where the changes occur. Everyone will have to trust their personal vision and follow their hearts in order to assist the whole. Each person will be able to use their gifts with joy and share equally in the bounty created by all working together." The other teachings of the prophecy of the Whirling Rainbow will be released at a later time when more have awakened to the potential they carry.

In our Seneca Tradition, Grandmother Twylah has taught us many uses for the Whirling Rainbow of peace. When we are having difficulty in any situation, we visualise the rainbow of peace encircling the situation, the people involved and the disharmony. Then we twinkle our eyes with joy, sending our inner-peace to the situation. In using this technique and following it with ceremony we place our intention inside the Whirling Rainbow of Peace.

Our intention follows the Iroquois Peace Confederacy Tradition that uses the Twelve Cycles of Truth to bring peace. The twelve cycles are

learning the truth
honouring the truth
accepting the truth
observing the truth
hearing the truth
presenting the truth
loving the truth
walking the truth
and being grateful for the truth.

When we invite total truth into our Sacred Space, we shatter bonds of seperation and illusion that create discord. The Whirling Rainbow of Peace destroys the lies that have made the children of the earth distrust each other and replaces the illusion of separation with the truth of unity.

When the Whirling rainbow woman of the Navaho and Hopi brings the cleansing and regenerative rains to the earth mother, her children are also cleansed and healed. When the Rainbow of Peace of the Seneca encircles each persons Sacred Space of others and the harmony of living on the earth will be restored. These knowing systems are the teachings of the Warriors of the rainbow who are Sisters and Brothers uniting the Fifth world and working for Peace.

The application of the card:-
if the whirling rainbow has appeared, you are asked to remove any type of discord from your life in order to grow. Don't feed the negativity. Look at any lessons being presented at this time, learn from them, focus on creating beauty and abundance in your life andd do not allow yourself to be caught in the quicksand of petty tyrants. A true worthy opponent will present lessons to make you grow beyond any high drama into a sense of untiy within the Self. Other petty tyrants are not worthy of your attention or your energy. You need not take on the issues of others when the discord is lack of unity within themselves.
Encircle any discord with the Whirling Rainbow of Peace and consider the unity you have with the Great Mystery when you keep your eye on the goal and your feet on the Sacred Path of Beauty, Remember, any challenges to unity are equal to your ability to overcome them.
